Tulipwood, Kingwood and Ormolu vanity table, attributed to François Linke. The vanity is raised by elegant and slender cabriole legs which are decorated by a top Ormolu mount of a rams head atop of richly chased acanthus leaves. The Ormolu chute below leads to the bottom wrap around Ormolu sabot. The arbalest shaped apron has three front drawers which are elegantly inlaid with a floral marquetry framed within an Ormolu band with foliate scrolls. At the center of each drawer is a keyhole escutcheon and handle. The sides of the vanity have with framed panels of the same floral marquetry. Above lays its impressive and thick original Breche Violette marble with a mottled edge. Laying on top of the marble is the central pivoting beveled violin shaped mirror surrounded by a double Ormolu mottled frame. The top of the mirror has a central reserve of additional acanthus leaves and flowers. The mirror is raised and held by two side scalloped supports with drawers with the same scrolled floral marquetry on three sides. Above the drawers are two marquetry panels richly decorated by foliate Ormolu scrolls. Wonderful proportions throughout. — Read Less
