Mahogany, ormolu, and black fossilized marble secretary commode. The seven drawer chest is raised by fine lightly curved legs with pierced foliate ormolu sabots below the straight frieze centered by a scalloped central reserve with a richly chased ormolu mount with an urn amidst lovely foliate designs. The three lower drawers each display finely detailed ormolu keyhole escutcheons with draped berried laurel garlands tied with charming ribbons and richly chased berried laurel wreath pulls. The top drawer displays the same central ormolu keyhole escutcheon and opens to reveal a button which releases the flap down front exposing the original gold tooled red leather top, the handsome original hardware, and three additional smaller drawers flanking a letter compartment.
